The Animated History of Buddhism | Trailer (2025)

 The Animated History of Buddhism is an 18-episode historical documentary series that is currently in pre-production. Our work combines various approaches to traditional 2D animation with the research and writing of a multi-national group of scholars from universities across Europe and North America. 

Our first animated documentary feature, "The Rise and Fall of the Tibetan Empire" (2024), was produced for Tricycle: The Buddhist Review and featured on BBS Channel 3. The project combined multiple styles of 2D animation with a focus on the material cultures of pre-modern Tibet. 

Our background and postproduction units have done extensive work recreating historical sites around the world for animated documentaries and feature films. Our background animation is rendered in a variety of different realist styles. 

Our character animation is done a variety of traditional hand-drawn 2D styles, which can cater to almost any budget. If you've been told that hand-drawn animation is too expensive, let us try to change your mind! 

Our illustrators work with our postproduction unit to provide richly detailed custom illustrations, which are brought to life with motion graphics and a dash of postproduction magic. Perfect for educational content, documentaries, or lavish cutaways in feature films. 

  Our postproduction unit works with both in-house illustrators and affiliated cartographers to produce beautiful maps in a variety of different styles, which we animate with motion graphics and hand-drawn overlays. These are perfect for documentaries, historical mini-docs, and feature films.
